HISTORY
HISTORY
Barangay Naga is one of the largest barangays of the Municipality of Tiwi. It is one barangay which is committed to the constitutional mandate of establishing and maintaining an adequate and satisfactory system of education to all high school students, ages from 12 to 16 years old and above. To realize this commitment, the Barangay Council through the initiative of Mr. Pablo Patriarca, the Barangay Captain of Naga, proposed and opened the Naga Barrio High School in 1968. The school served as the sister school of Tabaco National High School. The parents were very happy because they could send their children to secondary school with very minimal expenses.
Upon its opening in 1968, The Naga Barrio High School held its classes on the three temporary classrooms. Mr. Ismael Bobiles, the first school administrator, served as the Teacher-In-Charge but under the supervision of the Principal of the mother high school, The Tabaco National High School. With the help of Mr. Ismael Bobiles, the principal of Naga Elementary School and Mr. Vicente Cargullo, they assisted the first graduates in 1971-1972.
Because of the eruption of Naglagbong Lake in 1987, the school site was affected, it was relocated to Barangay Cararayan, Tiwi, Albay. Thru the efforts of National Power Corporation (NPC), the Philippine Geothermal, Inc. (PGI) and in coordination with the Ministry of Education Culture and Sports (MECS) and the Local Government Unit of Tiwi, the school acquired 14 classrooms located in the adjacent site of Naga Elementary School.
During the opening of the school three teachers were assigned on a full time basis who received their salaries from the tuition fees of the students. With the increase of enrollment, the number of teachers also increased.
Through Mrs. Lea B. Ravalo’s initiative and with the help of the Barangay Captain Jose T. Clapis and his councilors and with all the help and support given by the PTA Officers the Naga Barrio High School became Naga National High School in 1988. The school acquired lots and buildings and was then transferred to the present site in Sitio Nahulugan, Naga, Tiwi, Albay.
